Type Locality and Naming
Northernmost Taiwan. The type sections are referred to all the formations. It was named by He C. in 1975.
It consists of the lower Shidi Fm with coal and the upper Nangang Fm.
Lithology and Thickness
It is characterized by the sandstone, shale intercalated with coal seam, lenticulars basalt or tuff are casually occurred in bottom. Fossils are present. Coal, petroleum and natural gas are abundant. The thickness is 300 m.

Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is conformable in contact to underlying Daliao Fm or Yeliu Fm.
Upper contact
It is conformable in contact to the overlying Nanzhuang Fm or Sanxia Fm.
Regional extent
The formation is distributed in area around Miaoli County in western Taiwan.
